September 2009 - June 2013
The Common School
The Common School is a small, progressive private school located in Amherst, MA. It was here that my journey with self-exploration and awareness began. At the age of six, my teachers would ask,"Well, how does that make you feel, Grace?" The Common School is where I learned that each of us is entitled to our feelings no matter how different they might be. I also learned to love artistic expression as every activity had some sort creative, hands-on aspect to it.
September 2013 - June 2018
The Bement School
Bement is a small K-9 International boarding and day school. I attended as a day student. I thought it was so cool to have friends from around the globe. Mostly, though, I distinctly remember gaining self-confidence as my teachers and coaches encouraged my self-expression in both sports, arts, and academics. My Bement teachers invested in my interests.
I learned to play clarinet, drums, and piano. I also sang in chorus. I had the opportunity to learn Chinese, Spanish, and Latin. I received awards for being a soccer goalie, ultimate frisbee player, and basketball point guard.
I developed life-long relationships and learned so much about my own interests while at Bement. I am very grateful for my time at Bement.
September 2018 - May 2022
Deerfield Academy
Deerfield Academy is a 9-12 International boarding and day school. My four years at Deerfield have taught me to work hard, be accountable, and create change where I can. I have been challenged to do this in every aspect of my education and personal life: from developing awareness of my learning style, accepting my own limitations, accepting other's limitations, navigating human diversity and complexity, living in different environments with different rules and expectations, to digging deep to live up to my own standards. I learned far more than I ever anticipated when accepting Deerfield's invitation to join its community. These past four years have given me immense opportunity to grow both intellectually and emotionally, and have shown me that my greatest successes come not only from peserverence, but also from my ability to adapt and to remain flexible in my thinking.
